Funeral Services at Comanche Nation Community Center, Walters, OK, Friday, January 6, 2023 at 2:00 p.m., Edward Eschiti officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel in Walters on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m.

Shane Lee Chockpoyah was born to Eddie Wayne and Rose Marie (Eschiti) Chockpoyah on October 20, 1974 in Lawton, OK and departed this life in Lawton on December 31, 2022 at the age of 48 years, 2 months and 11 days.

Shane grew up at Walters, graduating from WHS in 1992. He went on to attend Cameron University and then transferred to Texas Tech in Lubbock. TX where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science in 2000. He then moved to Tuba City, AZ, working on the reservation for the Navajo Nation as a Lab Tech.

Shane returned to Southwest Oklahoma in 2003, living in Walters and working at the Indian Hospital. He moved to Grandfield in 2008 and has most recently worked at Comanche Red River Casino. He enjoyed camping during the Walters Powwow and camping in general, spending time with family and friends, going out to eat, aggravating people, laughing and having a good time. He enjoyed reading palms and story-telling.

He is survived by his parents, Eddie and Rose Chockpoyah; like a sister, Jennifer Robinson of Burkburnett, TX and her kids Darion Robinson of Lubbock, TX, Kyah Robinson and Cohen Robinson of Grandfield; his aunts and uncles, Lewis Eschiti and Kathy, Edward Eschiti and Sharlene, Leonard Eschiti and Misti, Marie “Midge” Sevier, Fred Chockpoyah, Sylvia Jeanne Ricketts, Geraldine Gray, Jessie Foster and Mike Calfy; many many beloved cousins and friends.
