Shannan Hopkins

February 21, 1959 — July 28, 2020

Funeral Service at Devol First Baptist Church, Friday, July 31, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with burial in the Devol Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hart-Wyatt.

Shannan Lynne Hopkins was born to Joyce Arlene (Shafer) and Robert Miller Burdette on February 21, 1959 in Enid, OK and departed this life at her home in Devol, OK on July 28, 2020 at the age of 61 years, 5 months and 7 days.

Shannan grew up in Burkburnett, TX until her marriage to Gayle Robert Hopkins on October 5, 1974 in Devol. They made Devol their home and she went on to graduated from Big Pasture High School in Randlett, graduating in 1977. After getting her kids in school she attended Cameron University receiving a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1988. She taught 1st Grade for 24 years at Harden Elementary in Burkburnett.

Shannan was a member of Devol First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Yellow Rose Sertoma Club in Burkburnett for many years. She enjoyed shopping, playing bunko and enjoyed the annual Gathering of the Godessess.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joyce and Robert Burdette; and a nephew, Ryan Burdette.

Survivors include her husband, Gayle, of the home; 3 children and spouses, Seante and Patrick Hanlon of Burkburnett, Kiesha and John Wayne Fowler of Devol, OK, Jaron and Stacy Hopkins of Burkburnett; 2 brothers, RD Burdette of Burkburnett and Mark Burdette of Wichita Falls; 7 grandchildren, Britlynne Bauman and Michael of Wichita Falls, McKaylynne Hanlon and fiancé Jeffrey Eaves of Wichita Falls, Kaityn Fowler and Blayne Fowler both of Devol, Hadley Hopkins, Sutton Hopkins and Sloan Hopkins all of Burkburnett; 2 bonus great grandchildren, Joselyn and Janelle Eaves; her Pomchi, Mow; many other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Donations can be made to the Devol Cemetery Maintenance Fund.
