Rev. Stanley W. Baker, “Bro. Stan” was born December 29, 1944 at Hereford, TX and departed this life in Cache, OK on October 30, 2018 at the age of 73 years, 10 months and 1 day.

Bro. Stan did much of his growing up in White Deer, TX and then attended 11^th and 12^th grades at Wheeler High School graduating in 1963. He eventually attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX receiving a Diploma in Theology and later received a Masters Degree of Christian Ministry from Southern Baptist School of Theology in Jacksonville, FL.

He first laid eyes on Connie Elaine Moore on the banks of Sweetwater Creek. They wed on June 8, 1964 at Wheeler, TX and to the union 3 children were born. They made their home at Big Lake and Pampa, TX, where he worked in the chemical business before moving on to White Deer and then Wheeler where he was engaged in farming and ranching and did custom hay baling. At FBC Wheeler he was Sunday School director, taught SS and served as deacon. It was there that he felt the call to ministry.

Bro. Stan’s first pastorate was at Joy Baptist Church, Joy, TX in 1977 for 3 years. He then pastored at FBC, Snyder, OK for 5 years before a 12-year calling to FBC Walters, OK from 1985 to 1997. He and Connie then moved to rural Sayre, OK for 3 years serving at Lone Oak Baptist Church then on to FBC Hammon for 4 years. They eventually moved to Cache and he served as interim for Corinth Baptist Church and supplied for others before serving as pastor at Northside Baptist Church in Lawton from 2007-2012. He has since enjoyed serving as an interim and supply preacher.

He had a special relationship with his grandparents, MB and Nettie Luttrell and attributed much of his raising to his grandad. As a boy he became an Eagle Scout and member of the Order of the Arrow, later becoming an Assistant Scout Master. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping, served as a swimming and archery instructor, and was an artist. He enjoyed helping coach the Cache FFA Shooting Team.

Bro. Stan enjoyed ministering to people in times of crisis. He has always been active in associational and state work, serving on the Board of Directors for the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, served as chaplain for the State Senate several times and was one of nine appointed to the Falls Creek Reconstruction Study Team. He was proud to be a member of First Baptist Church in Cache as they ministered to him through his illness.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepdad, James and Mona Jean (Luttrell) Guinn, and his brother, David Guinn.

Survivors include his wife, Connie, of the home; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Cheryl Baker of Taylor, TX, Rodney and Katreece Baker of Cache, OK; his daughter and son-in-law, Charis and Paul Emerson of Austin, TX; a brother, John Guinn and wife Sveta of Austin; his sister, Cherry Coffelt of Burns, TN; his sister-in-law, Debbie Guinn of Austin, TX; 9 grandchildren, Steven Mazur, Val Watson, Hollie Baker, Trae Quickle, AJ Breeze, Charles Baker, Hayleigh Baker, Britain Emerson and Bella Emerson; 9 great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
