Stella Mae Jones

March 20, 1931 — June 26, 2025

Temple

With heartfelt sorrow and deep love, we announce the passing of our cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Stella Jones, who went home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2025, in Temple, OK. She left this earth as a faithful servant of Jesus Christ at the age of 94. She was born on March 20, 1931, looking like her loving parents, LB Baldwin and Maude (Fowler) Baldwin.

Stella lived a life rooted in faith, family, and compassion. A devoted Christian woman, she walked in the light of the Lord, offering love, wisdom, and prayer to everyone around her. Her quiet strength and graceful spirit were a guiding force in the lives of all who knew her.

She worked for many years at the Haggar Slack Factory, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. She eventually retired with pride, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and diligence.

Stella was first united in marriage to Sylvester Johnson, with whom 7 children were born and later united with Billy Jones, welcoming his 2 children. In both unions, she was a loving, faithful wife and the heart of her family.

She was the proud mother of eight surviving children: Juanita Booker of Temple, OK, Jeneva Jones and Robert of Ardmore, OK, Verna “Pumpkin” Phillips and Johnny of Lawton, OK, Barbara Woods and Douglas of Tacoma, WA, Bertha “Peaches” Stewart of Lawton, OK, Helen Walker and Ronnie of Ardmore, OK, Eugene Johnson and Holly of Temple, OK, Trollis Jones DeBose of Oklahoma City, OK.

Her love continues through her 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom she nurtured with prayer, patience, and unconditional love.

Stella found joy in the simple and meaningful parts of life. She loved gardening and took great pride in making her yard beautiful with vibrant flowers. She also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes and was always ready for a good game with anyone who stopped by. Her home was a place of laughter, love, and prayer. One of her greatest joys was Christmas her favorite time of year. She turned her home into a winter wonderland, decorating every room with lights, trees, and festive cheer. It was a true reflection of her generous and joyful spirit.

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Temple, Oklahoma. Family and friends are welcome to attend as we honor a life beautifully lived and a soul now resting in glory. A visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 2-4:00 p.m. at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Interment at the Temple Cemetery.

Though we mourn her earthly absence, we rejoice knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23

Stella was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Maude Baldwin; her husband, Billy Jones; three brothers, Jack Baldwin, Ernest Baldwin, and Albert Baldwin; two sisters, Ruby Cox and Bertha Evans; and her granddaughter, Sharonica Johnson.

She’s survived by her brother, Dennis & Barbara Baldwin, her 8 children, 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren, & many friends. She is also survived by her loyal dog, Hobo, whom she loved dearly. Hobo was her constant companion, her guard dog, and always by her side - a faithful friend to the very end.
