Velora "Glowie" Bowers

Velora Gayle “Glowie” Bowers was born to Theodore and Ada Hazel (Damron) Mullins on June 11, 1938 on a farm east of Temple, OK and departed this life in Temple on February 5, 2023 at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 25 days.

Velora grew up east of Temple and graduated from Temple High School in 1956. She married Butch Bowers on September 11, 1959 in Temple and they raised 4 children. As a kid she pulled cotton with the family and through the years did baby-sitting, worked at Haggar’s and helped Butch with the farming.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Temple where she enjoyed working in the nursery. She also enjoyed crocheting dish cloths, going to flea markets and garage sales, trips to Branson with Betty, going to the casino and was great with kids. Her farm name was Ralph. She loved time with her grandkids and spending Thanksgivings with her extended family each year.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Ada.

Survivors include 4 kids, Melody Robinson of Walters, Buddy Bowers and Lisa of Walters, Nikki Vardell and Ricky of Temple, Shawn Bowers and Dalena of Walters; 2 sisters, Belva Vardell and Connie Smith both of Walters; a brother, Billy Mullins and Gennell of Lawton; 8 grandkids, Race Bowers, Keeli Murray, Lancee Cooke, Shane Bowers and Dalana, Landen Cooke and Jade Gray, Hassie Moiser and Micheal, Logann Pennington and Caleb, Hannah Crowley and Max; 14 great grandchildren, Maverick, Linden, Isaac, Isaiah, Hunter, Cannon, Racee, Krew, Marlee, Oakly, Maggie, Bennett, Dawson, Julian and one on the way; her partner in crime, Betty Jeffrey; many-many nieces, nephews and friends.
