Funeral Service at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11:00 am. Interment in the Walters Cemetery with Military Honors.

Walton Allen Durbin was born April 9, 1941 in Walters, OK to Fredrick Henry and Zelma Marie (Calfy) Durbin and departed this life in Temple, OK on September 14, 2022 at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 5 days.

Walt grew up in Walters, graduating from WHS. He enlisted with the United States Army and then continued his service in the Army Reserve. Walt served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he attended 3 years of college at Wilburton, OK.

Walt married Linda Faye Copeland on October 31, 1962 in Lawton, OK and to the union 4 children were born. The couple made their home in Berlin, Germany for a time while Walt was still in the service and also lived in a few Oklahoma towns such as Wilburton, Mansville and eventually settled in Temple, OK in 1995.

Walt worked as a plumbing contractor through the years. He loved and took care of his family faithfully. He enjoyed traveling, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and was known for building scarecrows. He loved his country with a passion. In the Walters Cemetery at the Veterans Triangle he erected a Memorial Stone to all Veterans who served this great nation honorably.

He was preceded in death by his wife Linda in 2005; his parents, Fred and Zelma Durbin; 3 brothers, Sammy, Freddy and Larry Durbin; and 3 sisters, Rose Ellen Latschar, Jessie Mae Webb and Judith Hill.

Walt is survived by 4 children and their spouses, Allen Durbin of Healdton, OK, Sheila McKinley and Darwin of Bowie, TX, Fred Durbin of Tulsa, OK, Julina Vandiver and Rick of Bowie; a brother, Terry Durbin and Linda of Walters; 2 sisters, Molly Womack of Cache, OK and Carmen Cable of Temple; 11 grandchildren, Allen Durbin Jr., Ashley Ryne, Kevin Dixon, Destiny Owens, Johnny Cline, Taylor Love, Austin Vandiver, Leanna Durbin, Nathaniel Durbin, Christina Durbin and Kendra Durbin; 15 great grandkids; extended family, Maricela Durbin, Billy Quiroz and Stephany Quiroz; many nieces, nephews and friends.
