Wanda Ruth (Doty) Roberson was born to Claud Clarence and Mary Belle (Stelzer) Doty on June 6, 1922 at Rocky, OK and departed this life in Moore, OK on December 2, 2021 at the age of 99 years, 5 months and 26 days.
Wanda grew up in the Devol, OK area, graduating from Devol High School in 1940. She went to work at Tinker Airforce Base and met a taxi-cap driver named Marion Benjamin Roberson. She married Ben on February 19, 1944 and soon moved to the Emerson Community west of Walters, OK. With the help of her father, the couple became engaged in farming and ranching. To the union a son, Donald Lee was born and they remained on the farm until moving to town for a time in the late 1950’s. By the early ‘60s they moved to a farm in the Ahpeatone community where they lived until returning to Walters in the late ‘70s. The family operated the Western Auto store and she also had a dress shop. The couple eventually moved to Rowlett, TX in 1990 to be near their son. She was an active member of Rowlett Baptist Church and enjoyed birthdays and other occasions to get together with friends weekly, especially for game night at church. She and son Don have lived in Moore, OK for the past few years.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ben, in 1996; her brother, Duane Doty; and her sister, Evalou Moon.
Survivors include her son, Don Roberson of Moore, OK; 2 sisters, Veta Miller of Walters and Pat McGinnis and husband Don of Burkburnett, TX; 2 granddaughters, Kimberly Roberson of Tulsa, OK and Jodie Pugh of Omaha, NE; 3 great grandsons; nieces, nephews and friends.
