Funeral Services at First United Methodist Church, Walters, OK, Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Brantley Tillery and Rev. Dave Karges officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home.
Wendall Lee Dedmon was born December 15, 1944 at Elk City, OK and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on November 21, 2018 at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 6 days.
Wendall grew up at Elk City where he graduated from high school in 1962. He then served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve from 1962-1968. He married Jemme Charla Cain on January 17, 1970 at Woodward, OK. They have made their home in Walters since 1970 where they raised their two sons, Jimmie and Eric.
Wendall carried mail at Fort Sill for the Lawton Postal Service in the 1970s and then worked for the Turn-Pike Authority in the 1980s. He then began a 27-year career as a service manager for Lone Star Gas which became Oklahoma Natural Gas. He was also employed by Walters Public Schools and Cameron University Transportation Departments.
He was a member of the Walters Lions Club, and a member of First United Methodist Church serving on the Administrative and Trustee Boards. He was the technical director for the Miss Walters Pageant as well as for school and community musicals. He also served as the Official Clock Keeper for WHS. He loved watching his sons and grandson in their athletic endeavors and was an avid OU fan.
Wendall was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Chrystine (Kennemer) Chambers; his stepfather, Wayne Burnam; and his brother, Jimmy Don Connor.
Survivors include his wife, Charla Dedmon, of the home; 2 sons and his daughter-in-law, Jimmie Lee and Krystal Dedmon, and Eric Dedmon all of Walters; his grandson, Christian Dedmon of Healdton, OK; his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Roger Chockley of Beaver, OK; his brother, Mike Burnam of Elk City; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
